If you are interested in learning more or attending this training, please contact Legal Clinic attorney Karen Malovrh at karen.malovrh@legalclinic.org
Volunteers are needed to help ensure that the rights and dignity of people residing in these encampments are not violated during encampment clearings, which in some instances have led to the loss of important belongings of encampment residents.
This opportunity is open to lawyers and non-lawyers. The training will include an overview of the issue of encampments and DC's encampment protocol.

If you are a lawyer or paralegal interested in volunteering with us, contact our Coordinator of Volunteers Kelsey Vaughan: kelsey.vaughan@legalclinic.org
The core of the Legal Clinic's work is the representation of low and no-income clients through a network of over 250 volunteer attorneys and legal assistants. Our volunteers help provide comprehensive legal services at intake sites throughout the District of Columbia, breaking down barriers for our clients and helping members of our community access housing, shelter, and other life-saving services. Volunteers meet with clients at one of 7 intake sites (including meal programs, health clinics, and day programs) for sessions lasting approximately 1 hour, and can expect to meet with an average of 2-5 clients at each intake. If a clients present legal issues within our case-counseling guidelines, the volunteer will act as the primary legal representative for those clients; volunteers receive case-counseling support and guidance from our staff attorneys on every case. This important work would not be possible without our amazing volunteers - we hope you'll consider joining us!
